TYLER MERCER

Executive Artistic Director

Originally from Los Angeles, Tyler is a Cuban-American director and producer, and the Founding Executive Artistic Director of Live Source Theatre Group. He has directed all the company’s works since 2011, including world premiere plays and adaptations by Jaclyn Backhaus, Kara Lee Corthron, Libby Emmons, Fernando Gonzalez, Deborah Zoe Laufer, Rehana Lew Mirza, Gianfranco Settecasi, Susan Soon He Stanton, Cori Thomas, and Pia Wilson. Tyler’s work with Live Source has been seen across New York City at the A.R.T./New York Theatres, BRIC, HERE Arts Center, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, the New Ohio Theatre, Pregones Theatre, and Access Theater. He has also directed various film/video projects for the company, and is currently developing a new stage adaptation of William Faulkner’s masterpiece novel AS I LAY DYING.

Film production credits with other companies include Revenge for Jolly! (Strongman / Last Pictures, directed by Chadd Harbold), Hunter (directed by Ian Samplin), and post-production for Hugo (Sikelia Productions, directed by Martin Scorsese).

Tyler has also worked in various administrative capacities with The Wooster Group, Ma-Yi Theater Company, the Mark Morris Dance Group, and the PROTOTYPE Festival. Tyler currently provides development consulting services to a broad range of artists and arts organizations. Clients have included The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Irish Arts Center, Parsons Dance and HB Studio through Kate Taylor Consulting, DNAWORKS (Fort Worth, TX), and more. B.F.A.
